Welcoming Winter

I'm posting this a day early due to an unexpectedly heavy work load on Saturday.

I had intended to begin my Christmas holiday today. That is if you don't include finishing up two sets of keys to be return shipped on Monday. Well, I ended up with a few out of town tunings for Saturday. I think I'll turn off my answering machine. Well, maybe not.

Anyway, here's the photograph that is meant to be posted on the first full day of the winter season. A winter wonderland view of the Merrimack River taken from the lawn of the Moseley Estate, now known as Maudesley State Park, in Newburyport, MA.

That is absolutely breathtaking!

Isn't it? The entire estate was/is seemingly photographically staged. Years ago (30+) I did a year in photographs and also made a video. Gee, when I say years ago...the video was made carrying a large reel to reel video tape recorder (B &W)slung over my shoulder and a camera the size of a shoebox!

Since benefactress, Mrs. Moseley, died, much of the land has been sold as home lots and the rest turned into a state park. The Moseley home, that was just to my back and to the right, burned to the ground over a decade ago.

Note: Upon further research I find that the original name of the estate was Maudesleigh, it is now Maudslay Sate Park. The home burned in 1978, I find it hard to believe it was THAT long ago!

I will be writing more and telling of my year long independent study project from my college days. With the story, I'll post some of the pictures that I took, way back then.

That photograph would make a better Xmas Card than most of the ones that we did have this year!
PS. It will still only let me sign-in on google!

A horizontal version of the view may well be my Christmas card next year.

No problem with the sign-in here!

Just been for a trip around Maudsley State Park. Visited the Farmhouse, etc. Very nice.

I've never done it online! I'll have to look at that.
