Thacher at Sunrise

Stunning sight. After my recent tour of Thacher Island, the 'twin towers' look very homely. Don't seem to be lit up.

I can't remember whether it's the north or south light that is working. It is cyclical (rotational) so was evidently on it's seaward "shine".

BTW, we are expecting what could be the most snow this winter. Not huge, last I heard, but 6 - 9 inches beginning today and lasting through the night. Of course, tomorrow I'm supposed to go to the job that I have canceled twice in the past due to snow (impossible hill to drive when slick). And my piano is supposed to arrive early next week - all should be clear by then and I will be working to keep the "passage" to the house clear! YUCK, I'm not happy at the moment.

The wind is howling, the snow is swirling about and I was ready for getting the frozen reindeer (the tacky lighted kind) out of the ground and preparing the soil for some plants. The dogs had started to dig to China so we need to bury some chicken wire to prevent the yard looking as if it were the surface of the moon. Anyway the best laid plans . . . bring out the shovels instead of the hoe.

All of this is to say that I have gone several times to look at the spectacular sunset. It is such a pleasant reminder that "this too shall melt".

Thanks for the uplife on such a cold, raw, snowy day. Yes, I am getting to be an old "whatever". I used to love snow storms and the more intense they were the better. Now I can't keep my balance in the whiteouts since focusing on a sight keeps my equilibrium intactand snow prevents this and the slippery ground makes the balancing act almost impossible. I do amuse my self by thinking I look like Charlie Chaplin when I try to walk on the wet or frozen stuff. My cane sometimes is worse than my feet and goes sliding off to the side. Now that is a picture. I am already walking as if I am inebriated and then I go sailing after the cane. It's a sight - esp since I used to walk 5 miles every day and a 15 min mile at that. Better laugh than cry! I could be in far worse shape. Am thankful I am alive and sane (well, that's up for debate).

Again, thanks for the picture that renews hope!
