I'm beginning to think your dad planned each page of this letter to be a cliff-hanger, in the style of a movie serial of that time....
Did he send all the pages at once, or dribble 'em out to keep the interest back home at its peak?
*chuckle* I don't think it was planned that way, but.....later on he did have a way about things like that, particularly with Christmas presents. You could never tell by size, weight, or shaking of box. Could be a brick, or bells, or multiple layers of gift-wrapped boxes, or a hunk of wood disguising the gift.
